A graveside service with military honors for Peter Cmar Jr., 85, a 10-year Yerington resident, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Mr. Cmar died Dec. 8, 2005, at the VA hospital in Reno. He was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Gary, Ind., to Mary Suchorsky and Peter Cmar Sr.

He married Florence in October 1995 in Yerington.

Before moving to Yerington, he lived in Carson City for 20 years.

Mr. Cmar completed high school and one year of college.

He was a tire manager for Grand Auto in Carson City for 10 years and owned and operated a tire company in Gary for several years.

He was a decorated World War II airman in North Africa and Europe. He served with the 60th Troop Carrier Group and was staff sergeant. He received eight Bronze Stars, the Air Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, a Distinguished Unit Citation and a Good Conduct medal.

Mr. Cmar was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled Veterans of America and the Holy Faith Catholic Church in Yerington.

He loved to fish.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, in 1989; one brother and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Cmar, of Yerington and sisters Betty Pierce of Ojai, Calif., and Martha Macke of Jupiter, Fla., and 15 nieces and nephews.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
