Citizens for Affordable Homes, Inc., a builder of self-help homes, will relocate to its new office at 100 Pinecone Road in Dayton on Wednesday. All contact information will remain the same.

CAHI has finally come to realize the dream of office ownership, after renting office space on Winnie Lane for about three years.

Tom Finch, director of development, worked with architect John Copulas to develop the plans for the 2,800-square-foot office. It includes a 600-square-foot garage, and 2,640-square-foot storage building. The new facility is on .58 acres adjacent to the nonprofit organization's new residential development of 24 homes.

A open house will be planned for in January.

Pete and Mary Cerquitella, who own Arundel Auctions in Carson City, were recently honored by the Carson City Area Chamber of Commerce for their commitment and contribution to the community.

The Cerquitellas have been active members of the chamber since 1990. They have donated work hours, labor and service to assist local nonprofit and charitable causes.

The Cerquitellas recently held a benefit auction for Darrell Curt, a Douglas County warehouse employee who underwent brain cancer surgery. The Curt family received $9,415 from the benefit auction to use for travel, lodging and living expenses while Darrell receives treatment.

The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada and a group of private, public and education entities are conducting the project.

The project Web site will be updated over six months. The focus of the project is to sustain Northern Nevada's quality of life from 10 to 20 years and beyond.

Washoe County finance, insurance, transportation and logistics companies are forecasting business growth over the next three years, according to a retention and expansion report released today by the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.

The survey shows that the 69 companies surveyed are projecting planned expansion by 2008, resulting in 665 new jobs, 551,500 additional square footage and $145 million in new capital investment.

Compared to last year's report, jobs have increased by 320 and capital investment grew by $42 million. Square footage remained the same.

Reno-area employers expect to hire at a brisk pace during the Q1 2006, according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.

From January to March, 43 percent of the companies interviewed plan to hire more employees. Seven percent expect to reduce their payrolls. Another 47 percent expect to maintain their current staff levels.

Job prospects appear best in durable goods manufacturing, wholesale-retail trade, services and public administration, according to Manpower.

Avis Cherry, of Coldwell Banker Best Sellers, completed a leadership program conducted by the Nevada Association of Realtors. The comprehensive program is designed to identify emerging leaders and assist them in sharpening their leadership skills through a series of workshops held throughout the year.

Jim Kelley's Tahoe Nugget Casino, at Crystal Bay on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, successfully completed the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program of the State of Nevada's Division of Industrial Relations.

The free program is designed to assist small employers (those with fewer than 250 employees) develop and implement effective safety and health programs. The program assists businesses to improve their return on investment and keep in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

Business Bank of Nevada (OTCBB:BBNV) hired Pamela Pugliese as vice president and branch relationship manager for its Carson Valley branch located at 1647 Highway 395 and Lucerne Street in Minden.

Pugliese takes over her new responsibilities from Lori Haney, who had been splitting her time as manager of the bank's Minden and Carson City branches for the past two-and-a-half years. Haney returns to managing the Carson City branch, which is approaching $100 million in total deposits, which is the fifth largest bank in this market.

Eddie Floyd, CEO of U.S. Realty, appointed Amy Kirwin to be the new president of the Reno company.

Floyd said that Kirwin has the responsibility of running the day-to-day operation of Reno based U.S. Realty, which is the area's leading real estate firm dealing with the sale of manufactured homes. The company has 10 employees.
