An Elks Memorial Service for LeRoy C. Kessler, 71, a Carson City resident for seven years, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177.
Mr. Kessler died Jan. 27, 2005, at his home. He was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Canova, S.D., to Earl and Elizabeth Schmit Kessler.
He married Inge Flohrer in March 1955 in Frankfurt, Germany.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Anaheim, Calif.
Mr. Kessler enjoyed the casinos, bird watching, traveling and spending time with his family.
He was a painter and a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge No. 2046 in Buena Park, Calif., where he was past exalted ruler.
He also belonged to the Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Don.
Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; sons and daughters-in-law Bill and Linda of Brea, Calif., and Mark and Robin of Fresno, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Rita and Dan Sanchez of Anaheim, Calif.; granddaughters Jennifer Kessler of Fresno, Debbie and husband Shant Kalanjian of Redlands, Calif., Josh Sanchez of Berkeley, Calif., and Kimberly Kessler of Brea, Calif.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
