Russell Chase, 91, a long-time Yerington resident, died Jan. 26, 2005, at Washoe Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 16, 1913, in San Diego, Calif., to Helen and John Chase.
He graduated from San Fernando High School. He married Helen Bury in 1938.
He worked for the Sunkist Lemon Co. for 22 years. He moved to Yerington and farmed for more than 50 years. During 10 of those years, he also worked for the Anaconda Copper mine.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting guns, target shooting, exploring the hills, woodworking and caring for his pets.
Among his survivors are his wife of 66 years; children Sandra and Kenneth Askins, Rick and Carol Chase and John and Kristine Chase; grandchildren Chris and Jeff Askins, Chancie Lee Chase and Anthony Chase; stepchildren Michelle Wanco and John Cary; and Donna Van Zandt.
A memorial funeral Mass was held at the Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul McCollum officiating.
