A man running from a sheriff's deputy jumped from the third story of Harveys Resort Casino parking garage at Stateline and onto the hood of a Hummer before being caught hiding near the casino's maintenance area, authorities said.

Robert Lampman, a 37-year-old from South Lake Tahoe, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after his reported movie-like stunt to evade authorities cracked the windshield and scratched the hood of the parked sport utility vehicle.

Lampman was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, alluding peace officers and trespassing.

Casino security notified Douglas County Sheriff's Department of a suspicious vehicle possibly involved in drug activity since several people were observed "coming and going throughout the day" at the car, said Sgt. Tom Mezzetta.

When a deputy approached the Ford F150 that was backed into a stall on the fourth floor, Lampman, 29-year-old Ross Cohune and a woman told the officer they were enjoying the view from the truck's bed, Mezzetta said.

Lampman took off, running down a flight of stairs before jumping from the third story and landing on the Hummer, Mezzetta said. He headed toward Harveys, but was found later by a deputy.

He declined medical attention.

A canine officer with El Dorado County Sheriff's Department searched the area where Lampman hid but didn't find any narcotics, Mezzetta said.
