AMA speedway motorcycle racing fans in Northern Nevada are in for a special treat this Saturday night. That's because Flyin' Mike Faria will be in the house.

Faria's stellar 30-year speedway career includes the following accomplishments: 3-time U.S. National Champion; 3-time American Final Champion; 4-time California State Champion; 8-time Costa Mesa Fair Derby Champion; and second in the1996 USA Speedway National Championship, and the coveted 2004 Jack Milne Cup.

"Without a doubt, Mike Faria is one of the most accomplished speedway riders the world has ever seen. He's had incredible success for numerous years now," said Carson City Raceway @ Fuji Park owner/operator Jeb Onweiler. "Mike normally races at Costa Mesa (in Southern California) on Saturday nights, but because they're dark this week, he's able to run with us. If area fans only catch only one speedway race this season, this certainly would be the one to see."

So far in division one action, it's been Bart Bast vs. the Hedden brothers. (Bobby and Tommy). However Faria claims that will all change this Saturday night.

"I'm going to take home all the gold this weekend at Carson City Raceway and there isn't anything those other guys can do about it," claimed the confident Faria. "I'm not sure how many chances I'll get to ride in Carson City this year and I plan to make the most of my opportunity."

Faria's appearance will be just part of the action as Carson City Raceway presents "Charter Media Nite" fueled by "AAA" featuring round No. 4 of the "Les Schwab Speedway Championships."

On tap will be Charter Media Pro Speedway (divisions 1, 2 & 3), Michael's Cycle Works Xtreme Quads, DC Motorsports Peewee Speedway, Party Supplies & Rentals Peewee Quads, and the Ponderosa Stamp EconoBox drags.

Also on the menu, ORCO Construction Supply will present the Bosch Power Box enter-to-win contest. Race fans can still enter at any ORCO location in Northern Nevada, or at the track on Saturday. The grand prize winner will be announced during intermission.

Carson City Raceway is located at the Fuji Park Fairgrounds rodeo arena at the corner Highway 395 and Old Clear Creek Road right across the street from Costco.
