Carson City

Lushina to host chamber breakfast

Joe Lushina, a Carson City Edward Jones representative, is sponsoring the Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Club meeting from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at his office, 1079 S. Carson St.

Chamber members and guests are encouraged to attend this informal networking event. Cost is $5 for members and $7 for nonmembers. A continental breakfast and door prizes will be provided. For information, call 841-6767.

Photo exhibit up at Arts Council

Deserted streets and storefronts of the night world are the focus of the Night Pieces photography exhibit by Reno artist Philippe Mazaud at the Nevada Arts Council's Carson City office now through July 29, part of the Council's Office eXhibition Series.

Mazaud has received numerous awards, including a Nevada Arts Council Fellowship. His work has been featured in exhibits locally and abroad, including the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno and the Galerie Anne Barrault in Paris.

The Arts Council is located at 716 N. Carson Street (intersection of Washington Street), Suite A, in Carson City and is open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call (775) 687-6680 for details.

Class will show how to preserve photos

Learn how to organize and preserve photos at a free class and workshop from 5-8:30 p.m. Monday in the Jobs Peak Room at the Carson Senior Center.

Raffle of car aids counseling center

Carson Dodge and the Community Counseling Center in Carson City are raffling off a 500-horsepower supercar to benefit substance abuse treatment programs for adolescents in Carson City and Douglas County. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased at Adele's Restaurant, The Community Counseling Center, Carson Dodge or Pinon Plaza Casino. The winning ticket will be drawn on July 4.

Greenhouse Garden Center is offering a free seminar on pruning needled evergreens at 9 a.m. Sunday. No prior registration is required.

Carson Valley

Genoa Home & Garden Tour Sunday

The Genoa Home & Garden Tour will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Guest speaker is Dave Ruf of Greenhouse Garden Center, who will speak at 1 p.m. on critter resistant plants and answer questions. There will be 10 houses, gardens and historic points of interest on the tour.

Proceeds will go to the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra who use the money to continue bringing free concerts to the community.

Tickets are $10 and the tour is self-guided. A map will be provided with each ticket. Tickets are sold at the Carson Valley Chamber in Gardnerville, Antiques Plus in Genoa, The Legends Country Inn in Genoa and the Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson City.

Potluck for senior citizens club

Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club will hold a potluck and social at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville.

All senior citizens are invited to attend and enjoy a day of food and fellowship. Bring a salad, entree or dessert to share. Various card games are planned for the occasion.
