A Carson City woman has been sentenced to five years probation for workers compensation fraud. District Judge Bill Maddox suspended a sentence of 12 months to 30 months in the prison in lieu of probation for Christina Vanegas, 33.
She was also ordered to make restitution of $9,500 to the Employers Insurance Company of Nevada.
According to the Attorney General's Office, Vanegas signed numerous insurance forms claiming she was totally disabled and unable to work, all the while working for the same employer where she claimed an injury.
