Free scrapbooking class this week at center

Learn how to start a family tradition by putting your photos and memories into meaningful albums.

A free class will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Carson City Senior Center in the Piñon Pines Room.

Daughters of Norway meeting Thursday

The Daughters of Norway Queen Maud Lodge No. 42 will meet in Carson City at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, corner of Saliman and Highway 50 East.

Initiation of new members and dinner.

Founded October 20, 2001, the group presents programs to preserve Norwegian heritage; to maintain knowledge of the history, culture and language of Norway; and to build a support system and friendship within the group.

Women are invited to join the lodge that are of Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic heritage or who are married or have been married to a Norwegian, etc.

Roadrunners to meet at Grandma Hattie's

This month's meeting of the Carson City Roadrunners R.V. Club will be Thursday, at Grandma Hattie's Restaurant. Lunch is at 12:45 followed by the meeting.

The meeting will be a recap of the campouts this year and preliminary ideas for the coming year.

Civil Air Patrol to speak at Footprint meeting

Carson Valley Chapter 72 of the International Footprint Association's next meeting is at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Carson Nugget. Social hour starts at 6 p.m. with dinner starting at 7 p.m. Following dinner, guest speakers will be Jack Clark, John Arnold and Scott Lilley. Their presentation will be about the Nevada Civil Air Patrol, its mission and how it interacts with government agencies.

BLM spokesman to speak to radio association

Mark Struble, public information officer for the Bureau of Land Management, will speak at the next meeting of the Sierra Intermountain Emergency Radio Association at 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.

Since 1999, Struble has been the BLM public affairs officer for the Carson City Field Office, coordinator for the Sierra Front-Northwest Great Basin Resource Advisory Council and primary BLM office liaison with Nevada Congressional delegation and is responsible for all news releases and interviews.

Issues concerning the use, sale and management of our public lands will be addressed. This is your opportunity to ask the person who knows. Visitors are welcome.
