A private family service for Charles William "Bill" Hayes, 87, a Carson City resident for the past eight years, will be Saturday in Roseville, Calif.

Mr. Hayes died Oct. 12, 2005, in Carson City.

He was born July 29, 1918, in Mansfield, Texas, to J.E. and Ethyl Olive Hayes.

He received a college degree in petroleum engineering from Oklahoma University.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Roseville.

He married June Hayes in 1945 in Galveston, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1995.

Mr. Hayes operated a natural gas refinery. He was past president of the Rotary Club in Abilene, Texas, and he was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Among his survivors are his son ,William "Billy" of Stateline; daughter-in-law, Karen Hayes; and grandchildren Jenna and Todd Hayes.

Burial will be in the Roseville Public Cemetery in Roseville next to his wife.
