Hospital has variety of flu shot clinics

Carson-Tahoe Hospital is donating 100 flu shots to Friends in Service Helping. "We are encouraging the indigent population to go to FISH to receive their flu shot," says Terry Long, RN, Carson-Tahoe employee health manager.

"We will also be loaning about 1,100 doses to Northern Nevada Medical Center," says Long. "We want our community to be healthy so we're doing everything we can to make sure the vaccine is available."

Carson-Tahoe Hospital is also providing flu shots to the general public throughout the coming weeks. Flu shots are available as follows:

• 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at the Diabetes Fair in the Carson Mall

• 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the Minden Medical Center

• 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the Carson Mall

• 2-6 p.m. Monday at the Carson Mall

• 2-6 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Minden Medical Center

• 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Carson Mall

• 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center as part of the community preview, 1600 Medical Parkway

• Noon-4 p.m. Nov. 17 a the Dayton Professional Building and 2-6 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Carson Mall

Flu shots are $20 each. Carson-Tahoe will bill Medicare, so bring your Medicare card. For information, call 886-7402.

Fall cleanup starts next week in Carson City

Monday through Nov. 10, Carson City Public Works will be picking up yard debris consisting of leaves, weeds and limbs. Leaves and yard debris must be placed in plastic bags and tied securely. Limbs must be bundled in lengths no longer than 6 feet long and weigh no more than 60 pounds.

Loose debris should not be swept onto the sidewalk area or into the street or gutter.

On Wednesday, call Carson City Public Works at 887-2355 to place your name on the list for pick-up. Provide your name, street address, phone number and type of material to be picked up.

Derby to speak to Democrats' group

Carson City Democrats meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 709 E. Robinson St. The guest speaker will be Congressional District 2 candidate and University of Nevada Regent Jill Derby.

Juicers to be given away during sale

Lifestream Natural Food Store is having a big blowout sale from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. today at the store, 101 Hot Springs Road. Everything will be discounted 20 percent, including items already on sale. The store will give away three Juiceman juicers at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. each. Call 885-8886.
