The Carson Junior Pee Wee Silver youth football team defeated the Sparks Wolf Pack 21-6 last Friday to improve to 2-0.
Matt Nolan and Nevin Elliott led the attack with Nolan passed for 70 yards and Elliott rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown. Henry Huffman also scored on a 40-yard run and Logan Krupp scored on a 55-yard run and had a 25-yard completion. Andrew Gutierrez and Sam Blei also contributed to the rushing attack.
Other offensive players who contributed were Christopher Lopez, Cameron Arnold, Andrew Cooper, Cory Wilson, Jay Milligan, Daniel Bacon, Tommie Champion, Caden Mitchell, D.J. Parker and Erich Slabaugh.
Willy McDonald helped lead the defense with three pass deflections and an interception. Sage Smith led the defense, which allowed just six first downs, with nine tackles. Jose Galindo also made tow key strips in the second half.
Others who played well defensively were Alec Donner, Mikel Hafeman, Zachary Kind, Brandon Aikers, Gunner Harper, Austin Kiesow, Rodney Calhoun, Kurtis Scull, Robbie Easton, Michael Samii, Ricky Streight, Anthony Gonzales, Dustin Garza and Nathan White.
Carson will next play at 8 p.m. Friday at Governor's Field.
Tiny Mites Blue win
The Carson Pop Warner Tiny Mites Blue team dismantled the Reno Titans last week. Carson controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
"It's amazing how much these young guys have learned in such a short amount of time, and how much fun they have," said head coach Ron Lopez.
