Gerda Elizabeth Canova

A funeral for Gerda Elizabeth Canova, 68, a Carson Valley resident, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Canova died Sept. 19, 2005.

She was born in 1937, in Austria to Leonhard Knoecklein and Anna Neuwirth.

She was raised during World War II. She lost her family at the age of 7 in the war and was raised by foster parents.

She came to the United States as a young immigrant in 1959, and married Peter T. Canova.

Mrs. Canova moved to Lake Tahoe in 1980 and worked as a Realtor for more than 20 years before retiring to the Carson Valley.

Among her survivors are her son, Peter III; daughters Susan Schoos, Gloria Canova and Mary Canova Sebek and brother Peter Knoecklein.
