The Carson High boys and girls swim teams picked up impressive wins over McQueen on Saturday at the Carson Aquatic Center.
Carson's boys won 152-133 and the girls won 140-131. For the girls, Abby Niehoff led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200-yard individual medley, winning in two minutes, 21.50 seconds. Barbara Perkins was second and Rebekah Niehoff took third.
Abby Niheoff also led a 1-2 finish in the 500 freestyle as she won in 5:27.51 while Perkins took second. Tatum Boehnke also won the 100 butterfly in 1:05.96 and Hilary Schlager won the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.71. Abby Niehoff, Julie Asire, Boehnke and Rebekah Niehoff won the 400 free relay in 3:56.81..
McQueen's Nicole Larson won the 100 free in 55.71 while Asire was second in 57.01. Asire also took second in the 50 free in 26.45 while Jessica Goddard was third.
For the boys, Carson won the 200 free relay as Matt Grunert, Garrett Clayton, Kevin Dyer and Chris Earwood finished in 1:53.52. Carson went 1-2 in the 200 free and the 200 I.M.Ian Murdock won the 200 free in 2:09.47 while Jacob Cornwell was second whiel Grunert won the 200 I.M. in 2:11.12 while Paul Chang took second. In addition, Dyer won the 100 fly in 1:00.58.
Grunert was a quadruple winner as he also led a 1-2 finish in the 100 backstroke. He won in 1:02.67 while Sam Ballard was second. He helped Carson to a win in the 400 free relay as well. Grunert, Chang, Dyer and Clayton won in 3:41.92.
Clayton won the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.88 and Carson had a 1-2-3 finish in the 500 free. Dyer won in 5:12.05, Clayton was second and Murdock was third.
RENO SWEEPS DOUGLAS
The Douglas High boys and girls swim teams had their share of highlights in losing to Reno High. Reno beat the Douglas girls 195-86 and the Tiger boys 218-67.
Douglas was able to pull off a 1-2-3 sweep in the boys 100 breaststroke with Ben Weiss winning in 1:04.53, Paul Von taking second and Taylor Brockway finishing third. Ryan Fore was second in diving.
For the girls, April Epps won the diving and Josephina Sigala won the 100 free in 58.29.
Katie O'Neill was second in the 100 fly in 1:07.25, and second in the 100 back in 1:11.76. Josephina Sigala was second in the 200 free in 2:07.91 and Sara Sigala was third in 2:12.89.
