A memorial service for James A. Lawrence, 95, of Gardnerville, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Carson Valley Methodist Church on Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.
Mr. Lawrence died April 7, 2006, at his Rock Creek Ranch in Gardnerville. He was born May 23, 1910, in San Mateo, Calif.
He was raised in Mendocino County, Calif., and graduated from high school in 1929.
He attended the University of California, Davis.
He was a commercial photographer and artist.
He and his wife were founding members of the Carson Valley Art Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Lawrence, March 17, 2001.
Among his survivors are his son James S. Lawrence; sons and daughters-in-law Christopher and Elizabeth Lawrence, Jeffery and Mary Lawrence and Bruce and Brenda Lawrence; daughter, Sarah Lawrence; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
