A celebration of life for Kenny John Prestella, 28, of Carson City, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Silver Hills Community Church, 1066 Mallory Way. A reception will follow at Mo & Sluggo's Bar and Grill, at 110 W. Telegraph St.

Mr. Prestella died April 9, 2006, in an accident while serving as a volunteer to construct the Templo Cristiano Elim Church in La Mision, Mexico.

He was born March 7, 1978, in Carson City, to Darrell Prestella and Kathy Shabi. He graduated from Carson High School in 1996 and received his EMT certification from REMSA in 2001.

He was an orthodontic-treatment coordinator for a local orthodontist.

He was a member of the St. Teresa Catholic Church in Carson City, and a volunteer firefighter for Lyon County. He enjoyed playing golf, camping and making people laugh.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ernie and Barbara Prestella.

Among his survivors are his parents of Carson City; fiancee, Mary Wilhoit, and her children Mari and Megan, all of Carson City; sister, Lauren Prestella of Carson City; brother, Donovan Prestella of Carson City; maternal grandmother Bonnie Pierce of Roosevelt, Utah; and many friends and extended-family members.
