Deputy Attorney General Scott Wasserman has been selected as the final candidate for the position of secretary to the the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents.

The board is expected to confirm his hiring at its May 5 meeting in Reno. He will replace Fini Dobyns who is retiring from the position.

The secretary provides support services for members of the board including preparation for their monthly meetings.

Wasserman is a lawyer who has been with the attorney general's office about a year. Prior to that position, he served as a chief deputy with the Legislative Counsel Bureau, where he had been for 18 years.

He was chosen from a list of candidates applying for the position by a committee consisting of three members of the Board of Regents: Dorothy Gallagher, Thalia Dondero and Howard Rosenberg.

"We are very pleased we were able to attract a candidate of Mr. Wasserman's experience and many talents," Gallagher said.
