The Carson High girls swim team continued its strong showing in the pool with a 167-116 win over Spanish Springs on Wednesday.
Carson's boys were also on their way to a win, leading the Cougars 127-118, with diving to be held today.
Carson's girls went 1-2-3 in the 200-yard individual medley as Tatum Boehnke won in two minutes, 28.28 seconds, Barbara Perkins was second in 2:30.16 and Rebekah Niehoff was third in 2:20.22. The Senators also went 1-2-3 in the 50 free as Julie Asire won in 27.15, Jessica Goddard was second in 27.87 and Sara Metcalf was third.
Asire also won the 100 freestyle in 1:00.16 and Abby Niehoff won the 500 free in an outstanding time of 5:20.05 and took second in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.06. Rebekah Niehoff also took second in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.90.
Carson went 1-2 in the 200 free relay as Asire, Abby Niehoff, Rebekah Niehoff and Boehnke won in 1;48.34 and Lauren Metcalf, Sarah Metcalf, Daniell Judge and Goddard took second in 1:54.87.
The Senators won the 400 free relay as well as Abby Niehoff, Asire, Boehnke and Rebekah Niehoff won in 3:55.75. Perkins, Judge, Goddard and Melanie Gingell took second in the 200 medley relay in 2:12.69.
For the boys, Kevin Dyer won the 200 free in 1:56.91 and the 100 fly in 1:02.19, Garrett Clayton won the 200 I.M. in 2:18.59 and the 100 back in 1:05.33 and Matt Grunert won the 100 free in 52.00 and Paul Chang was third. Sam Ballard was second in the 100 fly and Chris Earwood was second in the 50 free in 26.57.
Grunert, Dyer, Clayton and Chang won the 200 free relay in 1:40.03 while Kevin Patterson, Alex Peckham, Maurice Barrintos and Jacob Cornwell took third. Grunert, Dyer, Clayton and Chang also won the 400 free relay while Cory Harrison, Cornwell, Ballard and Ian Murdock were third.
