James D. Savage, 78, an 18-year Carson City resident, died April 10, 2006, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Savage was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Scotland to James Savage and Ann McQuire.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Savage lived in Banning, Calif.

He owned and operated a motel in New Hampshire for more than 20 years.

He enjoyed antiques and world travel.

Mr. Savage served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

He belonged to the Kiwanis Club.

He was a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, and a brother.

Among his survivors are his brother Patrick Savage of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and numerous extended-family members.

Cremation took place at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
