A prescription drug card that may save residents up to 20 percent on many prescription medications is now available through Douglas, Humboldt, Nye and Washoe counties.

There is no charge for this discount card, which is designed for use by residents who are uninsured or need prescriptions not covered on their insurance plan.

Most local pharmacies accept the card. There is no form to fill out, no annual fee, no income or age requirements and the card can be used unlimited times by all family members.

The program is offered in a joint effort of participating county governments and the National Association of Counties (NACo).

Cards are available to Douglas residents at county offices, including the administration building, 1616 Eighth St., Minden, or the Minden Inn, 1594 Esmeralda Ave. For information in Humboldt County visit: www.hcnv.us; in Nye visit: www.nyecounty.net. In Washoe County cards can be picked up at any of the public libraries, senior centers and other public counters at county offices. For information call Caremark at 1 (877) 321-2652 or visit http://naco.advancerx.com.
