The Sierra Nevada Media Group is taking reservations for booths at its Spring Job Fair, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. May 20 in the Nevada Appeal Community Room.


Electricity is only available to booths on the outer rim, which are of limited availability. Each booth comes with a complimentary Continental breakfast from 8-9 a.m., a 6-foot-by-29-inch table with chairs, complimentary lunch served at noon, and electricity and wall space to those placed along the outer rim. Also included is an ad in "The Recruiter," the Job Fair newspaper, that will run in all seven of Sierra Nevada Media Group's area newspapers.

Brewery Arts Center 'Go-Go Beach' auditions are today


The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City is planning a summer outdoor festival for July 27-Aug. 6. One of the highlights of this festival will be the performance of "Go-Go Beach," a rock 'n' roll musical.


Auditions for "Go-Go Beach" will be at 1 p.m. today at the BAC Performance Hall, 511 W. King St. Applicants are asked to bring a resume and a current photo or headshot, and to be prepared to sing 16 bars of an upbeat rock 'n' roll song and participate in group- and individual- movements and dances.


Hopefuls should dress for movement.

Advocates to End Domestic Violence begins volunteer training Monday


The Advocates to End Domestic Violence will be holding its annual volunteer training starting Monday.


Comprehensive training is offered so that volunteers can learn how to deal with and offer assistance on the Domestic Violence Crisis Hotline and the Sexual Assault Response Advocates. For questions or to sign up, call 883-7654.

Sierra Nevada Active 20-30 plans spring Fashion Show


The second annual Sierra Nevada Active 20-30 Spring Fashion Show will take place from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. today at Genoa Lakes Golf Course.


Proceeds will be donated to Douglas County youth programs. The event will include a three-course meal, unlimited wine, a silent auction and raffle, as well as the fashion show.

Western Nevada Community College Douglas campus to open Monday


All Western Nevada Community College classes in Minden will resume on Monday. Campus was closed Thursday afternoon after a broken water main flooded a section of landscaping.


No buildings were flooded. The break in the water line was repaired late Friday morning.

Parole convention in Sparks this week


The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners is hosting the International Association of Paroling Authorities today through Wednesday at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks.


More than 200 parole officers from the U.S., Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Hong Kong and other countries will attend.
