United Blood Services has issued a critical appeal for all blood types to donate in the next week. While area hospitals have a supply to meet immediate needs, the blood center has less than the necessary amount of blood products on their shelves. Each whole-blood unit can be made into several products; there are also shortages in plasma, cryo and platelets. Call 887-9111 or visit www.bloodhero.com.
