In what has to be one of the longest games in Northern Nevada history, the Carson High baseball team finally picked up its win at North Valleys on Wednesday.
Carson ended up with a 15-8 win. Carson thought it had originally won 13-6 in the game that was played earlier this month, but a protest was filed and upheld.
The game was picked up on Wednesday in the top of the sixth inning with the Senators leading 12-6. Carson had Johnny Hazeltine at third and Chris Ames at second.
Bryt Lewis was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Jack Maloney was hit by a pitch to force in a run. Logan Parsley hit a two-run double to make it 15-6.
After allowing two runs in the bottom of the sixth, Jack Jacquet settled down to finish the game. "He threw a complete game," said Carson coach Steve Cook jokingly, noting that Jacquet started the game earlier in the month and ended up going the distance.
Carson (18-6, 13-2 in the Sierra League) will continue league action today in a 3:30 p.m. game at Wooster. The Senators will then host a doubleheader against Wooster on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
Saturday will be Merk Human day in honor of the longtime Carson baseball fan, who died in 2001. All proceeds from gate and snack bar sales will go to the Merk Human Scholarship for graduating seniors on the CHS baseball team.
