Phyllis Joan Leathers, 71, a Logandale resident, died June 28, 2006, in Las Vegas, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Leathers was born Oct. 24, 1934, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Before moving to Logandale, Mrs. Leathers lived in Las Vegas for 40 years and Carson City for 20 years.

She graduated from Carson High School in 1950.

She was a retired accountant and worked for many years in the former Ormsby County Treasurer's Office under Geri Lamb.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Carson City.

Among her survivors are her husband, Wayne Leathers, of Logandale; son and daughter-in-law Fred and Carol Berning of Carson City; son Bill Berning of Las Vegas; daughter and son-in-law Roxanne and Phil Orme of Washington, Utah; daughter Valerie Aue of Elko; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Bill Dolan of Carson City; brother and sister-in-law Blake and Grace Fendrick of Santa Barbara, Calif., and nine grandchildren.

Private family services are being held.

Affordable Cremations of Las Vegas is in charge of arrangements.
