The Golden Baseball League announced Friday that catcher Marcus Jensen of the Reno Silver Sox has been selected as the Player of the Month for July.

Already having won a player of the week award to start the season, Jensen really heated up in July as his bat and defense led the Silver Sox to the first half title. He hit .362 for the month with 34 hits, 11 doubles, and 4 home runs while driving in 20 and scoring 23 runs. In addition, he walked 24 times and led the league with a .500 on-base percentage.

For the year, Jensen is in the top five in the GBL in almost all offensive categories and leads the league in doubles (21), runs scored (47), on-base percentage (.463), extra base hits (31), and walks (43). His .340 batting average heading into Friday is second-best and just five points behind leader Adam Mandel of the San Diego Surf Dawgs.

The Sox are back in town on Tuesday to begin a six game home stand. On Thursday, the American Heart Association will be holding a special silent auction. Every Silver Sox player will be a wearing a red hat in support of the event. Those red hats will then be autographed and auctioned off to help raise money for the association.

All games for this home stand begin at 6:35 p.m. (gates open at 5:30), except on Sunday when first pitch is at 5:05 (gates open at 4). Tickets are available by calling the Silver Sox box office, (775) 348-7769 or by going online at www.silversoxbaseball.com.
