Friday crashes snarl traffic

An unidentified man was taken by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center after driving his SUV through a wall just past Lakes Boulevard off Dayton Valley Road on Friday afternoon.

Capt. Jeff Page of the Lyon County Sheriff's Department said the accident happened at 3:21 p.m. It appears the driver crashed through a 6-foot-tall brick retaining wall that surrounds the Dayton Valley Golf Course.

Page said the victim's name was not available as of 5 p.m.

Care Flight landed in front of the fire department on Dayton Valley Road causing traffic to be stopped for about 30 minutes.

The driver was reported to be confused, but with only minor abrasions. He was transported to Washoe Medical Center.

It's unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.

Also on Friday, a four-vehicle accident in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 blocked traffic coming into Carson City from Spooner Summit for about an hour.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Hartline, said the accident occurred at 10:30 a.m. just inside the Carson City line.

No one was injured.
