A celebration of life for Ylita M. Shrum, a Carson City resident for more than 20 years, will be 10 a.m. today at Mills Park.
Mrs. Shrum died Aug. 8, 2006, at her home. She was born March 12, 1926, in Anadarko, Okla., to Cecil L. and Dorothy M. Fife.
She married James B. Shrum on Aug. 9, 1943, in Richmond, Calif.
Before moving to Carson City, Mrs. Shrum lived in Ontario, Calif., and in the San Francisco Bay area.
She belonged to the Good Sams, IOOF Richmond, Calif., Rebekah Lodge No. 206, and the First United Methodist Church in Carson City.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 2, 1999, in Carson City.
Among her survivors are her daughter Nancy M. Ruby; sons William L., Charles B. and Kenneth R. Shrum; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three nieces; two nephews and a brother-in-law.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Rebecca Scholarship fund or to hospice.
Capital City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
