A memorial service for Steven Mark Turadek, 49, a six-year Minden resident, will be at 6 p.m. Monday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville.

Mr. Turadek died Aug. 4, 2006, at his home in Minden.

He was born Oct. 8, 1956, in Milwaukee to Ervine Turadek and Sandra Lipinski.

Before moving to Minden, Mr. Turadek lived in Mountain View, Calif.

He completed 14 years of school and was a software engineer.

He served three years in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Civil Liberties Union.

He was a mathematician, scientist, philosopher, occasional inventor and a mentor.

He enjoyed coffee and cigarettes.

Among his survivors are his parents; longtime companion, Jesse Hughes; daughter, Janna Turadek of Minden; sister, Julie Piz; brother, Dave Turadek; ex-wife Signe Turadek; one niece; and two nephews.

Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
