Rasner on rehab in Gulf Coast League

Carson High graduate Darrell Rasner is currently on a rehab assignment with the New York Yankees rookie league club in the Gulf Coast League in Florida.

Going into Tuesday, Rasner had made two appearances. He allowed two runs in two innings in his first appearance, but in his second appearance on Sunday, Rasner allowed one run in four innings. In his two appearances, Rasner has allowed three runs on five hits in six innings for a 4.50 earned run average while striking out six and walking one.

Rasner began the year at Triple A Columbus before being called up to the New York Yankees at the end of May. In one appearance with the Yankees on June 1, Rasner didn't allow a run in 1.2 innings against the Detroit Tigers.

But on the next night, Rasner felt tightness in his right shoulder while warming up in the bullpen and was placed on the 15-day disabled list. He was eventually transferred to the 60-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Rasner is hoping to come off the DL next month and to be added to the Yankees bullpen when Major League teams can expand their active rosters to 40 players.
