Highway 395 at Snyder Avenue is still closed following a collision earlier this afternoon where three children were injured.

According to reports from the scene, one child was ejected from a vehicle and a second was partially ejected through the windshield when the Dodge Neon they were riding in struck a trailer carrying tar just after 4 p.m.

A Western Sealing and Striping flatbed truck pulling the tar trailer attempted to make a left turn from Highway 395 onto Snyder when the trailer struck the center median and became airborn. The burgundy-colored Neon, which was northbound on Highway 395, struck the tar trailer, said a witness.

Four people were taken to the hospital by helicopter or ambulance. The three children were all under 11 years old.

The northbound lanes of the highway are still closed, the southbound lanes have reopened. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
