A brush fire that started at about 6 p.m. Wednesday burned about 15 acres in the Virginia Mountains to the north of the Virginia Highlands in Storey County.

Fire-retardant drops stopped the fire's spread, and containment was expected at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Units responded Wednesday evening from Nevada Division of Forestry, Reno Fire Department, Storey County and Bureau of Land Management.

There were engines, water tenders, crews, a bulldozer, one single-engine air tanker, one helicopter and command personnel working on the Lousetown fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No structures were threatened.
