Sylvia Braman

Sylvia Braman, 91, a one-year Oak Harbor, Wash., resident and former Carson City resident, died July 16, 2006, at her home.

Mrs. Braman was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Bingham Canyon, Utah.

Before moving to Oak Harbor, Mrs. Braman lived in Carson City and Alaska.

She retired as central personnel supervisor for the state of Alaska in 1973.

She was a 20-year volunteer at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, where she received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for her volunteer work with the RSVP from Sen. Harry Reid.

She was on the governing and advisory boards of the senior center, as well as being the past chairwoman of the center's gift shops and chairwoman of their bake sales. She volunteered at the thrift shop and the OARC thrift shop.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Braman.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
