A funeral Mass for Manual "Neris" "Manny" Chavez Barragan, 41, a Carson City resident, will be 10-11 a.m. today at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1041 Lyons Ave., South Lake Tahoe. A viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at Harrah's Lake Tahoe Convention Center.
Mr. Chavez Barragan died Aug. 14, 2006, on Kingsbury Grade. He was born Feb. 9, 1965, in Jiquilpan, Jalisco, Mexico, to Buena Ventura Chavez and Margarita Barragan.
Before moving to Carson City in October, Mr. Chavez Barragan lived at South Lake Tahoe for 19 years.
He enjoyed traveling, sports, helping people and spending time with his family.
Among his survivors are his parents; wife, Susana Rodriguez de Chavez; daughter Jenny Chavez Rodriguez; son Edwin Chavez Rodriguez; brothers Guadalupe Chavez, Fransisco Chavez, Juan Chavez, Daniel Chavez, Pedro Chavez, Jose Luis Chavez, and Jose Ramon Chavez; and sisters Blandina Chavez and Letty Chavez.
