A graveside service for Gloria Senglaub Handley, 79, a Carson City resident since 1982, will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Mrs. Handley died Aug. 21, 2006, in Carson City.

She was born Jan. 22, 1927, in Sheboygan, Wis., to Edwin and Lenora Senglaub.

She moved to Yerington in 1955 before moving to Gardnerville and finally Carson City.

She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1950 with a master's degree in social work.

From 1955 to 1988, she worked for the Nevada Welfare Division, the state's Division Child and Family Services, retiring as chief of Child and Family Services. She also owned and operated Carson City Discount Travel Agency.

She enjoyed traveling, and had vacationed in Europe, China, Australia and Africa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Handley, in 1980; and brother, Edward Senglaub in 1963.

Among her survivors are her brothers and sisters-in-law Dale and Kathy Senglaub of Plymouth, Wis., and Glenn and Janice Senglaub of Sheboygan; several nieces and nephews; and friend Mary Lee of Carson City.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
