AARP Driver Safety Program classes scheduled

The AARP Driver Safety Program will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center.

Senior Support Group Meetings

The Senior Support program meets at 1 p.m. every Tuesday at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center.

The Parkinson's support group meets at 2 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center. Susan Gulas is facilitator.

An Al Anon group meets from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Tahoe Room at the center.

Nevada State Museum

The Behind the Scenes Tours will meet at either 10 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. the last Friday of the month for anthropology or plants and animals.

A four-day, volunteer tour guide training will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 26-29 at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St.

AARP Chapter 723

Carson City Chapter AARP 723 will resume its monthly meetings at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center.

Speakers will be announced at a later date. The public is always welcome, especially those members of the former Gardnerville/ Minden Chapter 3683. Please join us to stay aware of the AARP interests and activities in our area.

The Carson City Retired Teacher Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 8 at Q's Restaurant, 230 Fairview Drive.

Adventurers

Silver Sierra Adventurers Travel Club meets at 6 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson St., upstairs.

The club is planning a California Dreamin' bus trip for Oct. 16-19. It will include Monterey, Hearst Castle and Yosemite National park with overnight accommodations and some meals.

Senior Services

The Senior Games Bingo will take place at Douglas County Senior Center on Sept. 24.

Doors open at noon with early bird games at 1 p.m. and regular games at 1:30.

This is a fundraiser for Northern Nevada Senior Games of Douglas County sponsored by the Young At Heart Senior Citizen Club.

Northern Nevada Senior Games

The ninth annual Northern Nevada Senior Games will begin on Sept. 9.

Many events are planned including weightlifting, track and field, golf, bowling, billiard, pistol shoot and swimming and will be held at various locations in the valley.
