Art show opens today at college
FALLON - Western Nevada Community College welcomes "Remnants," a Rhonda L. Wilson photographic exhibition featuring timeworn leftovers of pioneers who carved out lives in the Great Basin. The exhibit will hang in Virgil Getto Hall at WNCC Fallon Monday Aug. 28 through Friday Sept. 22.
Wilson's journey took her to mining towns, ghost towns, ranches and homesteads in various states of existence, from the Eastern Sierra mountains of California and Nevada, to large parts of Utah, Oregon, and Idaho. "It led me to the lonely back roads of this mountainous and extreme high desert looking for leftover evidence of the hardworking people who tried to tame the land," she said.
Wilson is a photographer residing in Reno. An artist's reception in the gallery will be Thursday Sept. 7, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
