The Natural Resources Conservation Service is accepting applications for several 2007 conservation programs until Oct. 13.


Applications will be accepted for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), EQIP's Ground and Surface Water program, Agricultural Management Assistance Program and Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program.


Applications will be evaluated, ranked, and submitted for grant funding, which is expected in the spring.

An opportunity to meet the candidates


The Meet the Candidates barbecue and picnic is 3-7 p.m. Sept. 9 at 1001 Arrowhead Dr.


People seeking local and state offices are expected at this bipartisan event, sponsored by the Democratic women's clubs of Carson City and Douglas County.

RR museum to host reception for 'Still a World Apart'


The photography exhibit "Still a World Apart," an interpretive display on railroads, and the California Zephyr, a working model railroad, will be on display at a public reception and open house 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

Last summer concert stars 'Sweetfoot'


The last outdoor concert of the season on the lawn at the Valhalla Grand Hall is by the Caribbean Allstars, featuring Hugh "Sweetfoot" Maynard.


The concert starts Sunday at noon.

Filipino stars at Atlantis Casino


Enjoy an evening of song as two Filipino stars appear at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa's Grand Ballroom on Saturday. The Hotdog Band and Joey Albert will play Filipino classics.
