E&G Scooters

Ernie Magee, co-owner

2020 Highway 50 E.

841-2227

Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday to Sunday

What we do: We sell mopeds, ATVs, dune buggies, mini choppers, quads and dirt bikes.

Why we opened our business in Carson City: I am a real estate agent here, and I've always had an inclination toward motor scooters. I wanted to get a moped so that my wife and I could take our RV on trips and then pull the moped so that we can drive it around while we park the RV. When we were shopping around for one, no one carried them, so we decided to open our own shop.

Experience: I've been a real estate agent for 12 years. I ran a gift shop in Zephyr Cove. I was an assistant manager of a major retail store in the northeast. I have an art degree with a minor in business from the University of Southern California.

My business motto: Easy on the gas.

Family: My wife, Gayle, and I own the business. She is a second-grade teacher at Empire Elementary. We have two grown children.

Prices: We start at $349 for kids' dirt bikes. We have $499 kids' ATVs. Our prices range up to $5,000.

What I own: The Roketa 250 because it seats two people and goes 85 mph.
