(Staff reports) - No one was arrested in the raid of a home in east Carson City on Tuesday night, but drug charges were forwarded to the District Attorney's Office against the homeowner, his wife and a roommate.

According to Sgt. Darrin Sloan of the Carson City Sheriff's Department, SWAT and special enforcement team members entered the home on Appaloosa Drive about 7 p.m. in search of suspected heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine.

"Everything they had they had just got through selling," Sloan said.

Interviews afterward with Branden Denney, his pregnant wife, Jennifer, and an unidentified roommate indicated they were intending to get more drugs from an unknown supplier when police stormed the home.

A pit bull dog that began to attack a SWAT member was shot and killed.

Sloan said the home was littered with hypodermic needles and the only drug found was heroin in a spoon.

He said the investigation is ongoing.

Treasurer-elect names chief of staff

Treasurer-elect Kate Marshall has appointed Renee Parker as her chief of staff.

Parker, currently deputy chief of staff and legal counsel to Gov. Kenny Guinn, previously served several years as chief of staff to Secretary of State Dean Heller. Prior to that she was on the legal staff of the Public Utilities Commission.

"We share an enthusiasm for public service and a sincere commitment to moving Nevada forward," said Marshall in making the announcement.

She said Parker's experience will be valuable to the conduct of the office and to her efforts to make the transition.

Marshall said she does not anticipate significant changes to the existing professional staff in the treasurer's office and is looking forward to working with them after she is sworn in Jan. 1.
