A memorial service for Darvin Washoe, 70, a lifelong resident of Dresslerville, will be 10 a.m. Monday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at 9 a.m.

Mr. Washoe died Dec. 5, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 16, 1936, in Dresslerville, to Pedro and Louinda Washoe.

He was a high school graduate and a maintenance worker.

He had served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Washoe Tribe.

He was preceded in death by sister Cornelia Washoe in Los Angeles and by nephew Frank Hicks in Fallon.

Among his survivors are his sister Lois Washoe Hicks of Dresslerville; nieces Louinda Hick Garity of Stewart and Sandra Hicks of Fallon and nephews Gary Floyd Hicks and Steve Hicks both of Fallon.

Burial will take place at the Stewart Indian Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Washoe Tribe Senior Citizens Center.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
