Grandparents as Parents support group meets
Grandparents as Parents is a free confidential support group for anyone raising their relatives' children. This group meets 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Behavioral Health Outpatient Services, 1001 N. Mountain St., Suite 3E. Call 888-9148.
Pioneer Family dance, potluck for New Years
Pioneer Family Dance will hold its annual New Year's Eve Dance from 8 p.m. until midnight. Cost is $15 for adults ($12 in advance at nevadamusic.com) and $6 for kids. Champagne or sparkling cider will be provided at midnight.
Bring a dish to share for the dessert potluck at "half-time." Dance to the lively Wild Sage band and quickly learn dances from a caller at the Brewery Arts Center ballroom, 449 W. King St. Call 883-9351.
Dance lessons being offered for seniors
Seniors are welcome to join other seniors at World Gym for dance lessons at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

Daughters of Norway to hold Christmas celebration Thursday
The Daughters of Norway Queen Maud Lodge No. 42 will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Family Church, corner of Highway 50 East at Saliman.
They will offer a smorgasbord and Santa's visit with the children, and will sing and dance around the Christmas tree. An exchange of gifts valued at no more than $10 each will end the evening. Guests are welcome.
Women are invited to join the lodge that are of Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic heritage or who are married or have been married to someone of that heritage. Call 882-3729.

SIERA holding SKYWARN program with local meteorologist
The Sierra Intermountain Emergency Radio Association's next general meeting will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church building, 1375 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.
Rhett Milne, a warning-coordination meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Reno, will be conducting a SKYWARN Spotter Program for members and friends of SIERA.
Amateur radio operators and friends are encouraged to attend.

Hip-hop pair at MontBleu
Northern California-based hip-hop duo HardNox will take the stage at the MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa 8 p.m. Friday for a one-night engagement. The resort's nightclub features the country's top DJs and go-go dancers.
With their mixed martial arts inspired music, HardNox is a duo comprised of artist/production team and brothers Dan and Jim Kehoe. With a unique blend of hip-hop, rock and electronic sounds, HardNox has been winning over fans worldwide. Their current album "Garage Sale" is available on the groups label HardNox Productions.
