BLUE LAKES AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930): It is really quiet and I don't have any fishing reports for you.

Last week was pretty quiet and we are having an incredible wind storm, right now (Tuesday afternoon).

DAVE LAKE, CALIF: It is almost completely iced over with a very thin layer of ice that is too thin for ice fishing.

Do not walk on the ice.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif. (530-993-4683): It is iced over. Thin ice covers most of the lake with thicker ice at the dam. The ice is not safe!

There is some open water to be found if you don't mind hiking to it.

There is open water in the cove areas of Turkey Point and Big Cove.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy at Burke's Market (Closed on Mondays) at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): It is very windy right now (Tuesday morning) and there is no ice on the reservoir.

Everything has melted. It is unbelievable how warm it got overnight, but that wind really makes it cold.

We would like to wish every a Happy New Year.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Valerie at Crosby's Lodge at (775) 476-0400 reported: Not very many fishermen over the holiday. It is terribly windy right now (Tuesday afternoon). It is just horrible.

We had a total of 3 Cutthroat checked here at the lodge last week: A 12 pounder (30 inches) caught by Jeff Morris of Reno-Sparks from a boat at Warrior Point, an 8 pounder and a 6 pounder.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Andy at the Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks at 358-6113: It is fairly slow everywhere you go. Some of the fly fishermen have been successful at "The Nets" with white Woolly Bugger flies. The trollers are using Flatfish and spinners in Perch Colors. The shore fishermen are using the usual colors and lures.

The south end of the lake has been the best place to fish.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Carla Molino of the Pyramid Lake Store at (775) 476-0555 reported: We have had lots of wind but not very many fishermen during the Christmas week. There have been some nice fish caught (5-10 pounds), but not a lot of fish.

The boaters are doing the best as far as the numbers of fish, and the shore fishermen are doing the best as far as the size of the fish.

It is very windy today (Tuesday), we have been pretty busy, but I don't think many people are fishing due to the windy conditions.

SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Dave Jacobs/Hank Mautz (Professional Guide Service) (800-355-3113):

King Salmon: Fishing for late fall run Kings was good this past week with reports of 3-4 salmon per boat, which mostly depended on where you fished. Most salmon averaged 16-25 pounds with the occasional salmon tipping the scales over 45 pounds.

Most productive water was from the Barge Hole downstream past Chico.

Best bets have been sardine wrapped K-15 or K-16 Kwikfish lures in either silver or gold color combos.

Back-bouncing fresh sardine wrapped Kwikfish has been best bet.

Fishing below Red Bluff diversion dam closes on January 1st. Fishing from the Deschutes bridge to the Red Bluff diversion dam will close on January 14th.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): I had to cancel a trip today (Tuesday), and Mother Nature is busy oxygenating the lake today with this high wind.

Fishing has been slow to excellent dependent on the day. We have been trolling at 150-340 feet with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows. I've been fishing at Cal-Neva Point, Dollar Point and Sugar Pine Point.

We've been catching 2-10 fish per trip. Our biggest fish was a 15 pounder caught at Cal Neva Point with dodgers and a minnow at 110 feet.

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: I've been trolling Ski Run Shelf and Camp Richardson.

We have been trolling at 180-340 feet with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows. The bite has been slow at Camp Rich in the deeper water.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR, NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: Our weather is beautiful. There is no wind, it is overcast and it is 45 degrees (Tuesday afternoon). We have 12 inches of ice by the state boat ramp.

The rainbows and perch are hitting right on the bottom or at a depth of 6 feet. The rainbows are 16-20 inches.

There are three different parties out on the ice, right now. Tell everyone Happy New Year from all of us.
