A deputy attorney general will be appointed as senior deputy district attorney of the Carson City District Attorney Office's civil division when the new administration takes office in January, said District Attorney-elect Neil Rombardo.
Ed Oueilhe currently serves as a deputy attorney general for the departments of motor vehicles and public safety and previously served as a deputy attorney general in the litigation division.
"Oueilhe will be responsible primarily for civil litigation in the district attorney's office as well as representing boards and commissions throughout Carson City," Rombardo wrote in a press release. "(He) is an experienced (attorney) with a history of managing, and successfully defending, a large case load. I have worked with Ed for several years, and he is an impressive lawyer who brings an attitude of professionalism and hard work."
Ouelihe's appointment is one of several changes Rombardo intends to implement when he takes office on Jan. 1.
Earlier this month, Rombardo announced he will appoint Gerald Gardner, a high-ranking deputy attorney general, as his assistant district attorney. Rombardo said he will oversee the criminal prosecution division at the district attorney's office and serve as advisor.
Gardner is currently the chief deputy attorney general based in Las Vegas and was at one time Rombardo's boss at the Nevada Attorney General's Office.
These appointments are not new, but are filling spots being left vacant by the resignations of Chief Criminal Deputy Anne Langer and Chief Civil Deputy Mike Suglia.
Rombardo also said he would reassign Deputy District Attorney Laurie Trotter to the juvenile division due of the resignation of Juvenile Deputy District Attorney Trina Dahlin.
Melanie Bruketta will remain the chief deputy of the civil division.
