Carson City


GOP candidates for governor to attend Lincoln Day Dinner


Carson City Republicans will host all three Republican candidates for governor at their annual Lincoln Day Dinner next week.


The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at the Carson Nugget. Dinner is scheduled for 7 p.m.


Central Committee Chairman Phil Haskin said state Sen. Bob Beers of Las Vegas, Rep. Jim Gibbons and Lt. Gov. Lorraine Hunt will also make presentations at the event. He said while they won't directly debate each other, the audience will be able to ask them questions.


The Carson City event is one of three scheduled in Western Nevada over the next week.


Lyon County's event is set for the Casino West Convention Center in Yerington tonight. Douglas County Republicans will hold their Lincoln Day Dinner on Feb. 12 at the Carson Valley Inn.




Tri-County meth meeting Monday


There will be a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Carson City Community Center's Sierra Room, as well as a live broadcast in the Carson City area on Channel 10, to discuss methamphetamine usage in the Tri-County area.


Panelists will speak and representatives will discuss what is going on in each county as far as combating meth use. The public is invited to attend or watch the live broadcast.




Senior program calls for volunteers


The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is in need of volunteers to visit the elderly in assisted living facilities.

WNCC hosts Mythical Graffiti exhibition


Western Nevada Community College in Carson City is exhibiting "Mythical Graffiti," a Robert Peterson photographic exhibition. This exhibition will hang in the college gallery in the Carson City campus' Bristlecone Building until Feb. 24.


An artist's reception in the gallery will be 5-7 p.m. Feb. 9.




Douglas County


Dragonslayers host Teen Game Day


The Douglas County Public Library Teen Advisory Board, also known as the Dragonslayers, invites the public to Teen Game Day from 4-7 p.m. Feb. 17 for teens aged 12-18. Pizza and soda as well as a variety of games will be provided.


Teen Game Day is sponsored by the Dragonslayers and the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library. The library is at 1625 Library Lane in Minden.

Markleeville


Resource committee to meet in Markleeville


The Alpine County Resource Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Diamond Valley School near Woodfords. The committee will be discussing issues relevant to natural resources in Alpine County.
