A memorial service for Russell T. Forbes, 74, an 18-year resident of Reno, will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Ross, Burke and Knobel Funeral Home, 2155 Kietzke Lane, in Reno.

Mr. Forbes died Feb. 18, 2006, while recovering from open-heart surgery in Reno. He was born April 25, 1931, in Cambridge, Mass.

He married Gloria Grenade on March 15, 1952.

Before moving to Reno, he lived in Carson City for 35 years.

He retired as a printer for the Nevada State Printing Office in 1984 after serving the state for 30 years.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during Korea and Vietnam.

He earned the Navy Combat Achievement Medal while serving in Vietnam. He also served two years in the National Guard in Carson City.

He was one of the original members of the Marine Corps Reserve 49th Rifle Company in Reno. He belonged to the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He volunteered for the 4-H program in Carson City and at the Veterans Hospital.

Among his survivors are his wife of Reno; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Julietta Forbes of Reno; sister. Billie Bacon of Dunstable, Mass.; brother. Willie Leeche of Phoenix; grandchildren Rachel and Rory Forbes of Reno;, and several extended-family members.
