The Western Nevada Community College baseball team will begin its home opening series today.

WNCC continues play in the Scenic West Conference today and Saturday against Colorado Northwestern at Ron McNutt Field. Doubleheaders will be each day. Game times each day are noon and 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.

In honor of WNCC's first ever home series, admission to today's games is free. WNCC comes into the series at 7-9 and 1-3 in the Scenic West.

WNCC is playing at McNutt Field because John L. Harvey Field is still under construction. WNCC coach D.J. Whittemore said he was grateful to Carson High baseball coach Steve Cook, Carson athletic director Ron McNutt and the CHS administration for allowing his team to use McNutt Field.

"We're very thankful for their generosity," Whittemore said. "We're looking forward to a good turnout and homefield advantage for a change."

In addition, there's been a change in the schedule in the home and away conference series with Eastern Utah. The Wildcats will play at Eastern Utah March 24 and 25. Game times are 1 and 4 p.m. March 24 and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. March 25.

WNCC will host Eastern Utah April 28 and 29. Game times are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
