(Staff report) - Calls to Lyon County's 911 system are being routed through Carson City's emergency dispatch after a problem with a Verizon phone company tower knocked out the phone system in Yerington and Smith Valley at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.
According to Lyon County dispatch, the county's emergency calls come into Yerington.
Those in that area with an emergency can still call 911, and calls will be routed through Carson City to alternate lines at a Lyon County Sheriff's substation. Those with non-emergency traffic should call 775-577-5020.
As of press time Tuesday, there was no estimate as to when the tower will be repaired.
