A funeral service for Russell Wallace, 65, a 26-year Carson City resident, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Walton's.
Mr. Wallace died Feb. 24, 2006, in Carson City. He was born April 21, 1939, in Point Lookout, Colo., to Russell W. and Mona Wallace.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in San Diego.
He was a correctional officer for the Nevada Department of Corrections for 20 years before retiring in 1999.
He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy as an aviation boatswain's mate first class, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, in 1991.
Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Albert C. and Trina Cypher of Sparks; son Curtis M. Shaw of Wadsworth; daughter, Teresa L. Marshall of Carson City; brother Dwayne E. Wallace of Abilene, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday at Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley with military honors.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
