Dayton Valley Road was reopened at 7 p.m. after being closed for two hours due to a natural gas leak.

The underground leak reported at 5 p.m. had no obvious cause, said Capt. Jeff Page, emergency management coordinator for Lyon County.

The Central Lyon County Fire Protection District and South West Gas Co. responded to the leak in the area of Dayton Valley and Quilici roads in Dayton. Gas company personnel were continuing repairs as late as 8 p.m., according to Page.

Dayton Valley Road was closed from Old Como Road to Pebble Drive. Motorists were requested to avoid the area. No outages were expected, according to gas company personnel.
