A memorial service for Ronald D. Benson, 64, a 16-year resident of Gardnerville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Minden Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mr. Benson died Jan. 5, 2006. He was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Clifford L. and Bernice Bowen Benson.

Before coming to Gardnerville he lived for many years in Simi Valley, Calif.

He was a mail processor for Caesars Hotel-Casino for 15 years. He was a radio graphics inspector, a job from which he retired. He enjoyed street rods and going to car shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol in February 2002; and a brother.

Among his survivors are his sons and daughters-in-law Kirk and Teri of Gardnerville and Eric and Robin of Quartz Hill, Calif.; daughter Rhonda Darter of Gardnerville; sister Betty Peterson of Hemet, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in San Francisco.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
